“Being the “best you can be” is really only possible when you are deeply connected to another. Splendid isolation is for planets, not people.” ― Sue Johnson

Kristi is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been seeing clients since 2016 and has experience with all ages but specifically has a passion for working with adolescents and adults. She loves to work with clients to heal from past hurts and traumas and to work towards a healthier mindset and emotions as they are growing in independence and self-awareness. She has experience working with clients with a wide range of mental health issues, from anxiety to depression, trauma to attachment issues, relational issues to self-esteem issues. Kristi has been additionally trained in Emotion Focused Therapy and utilized Animal-Assisted Therapy.

Kristi works with a systemic approach. Most of our worst hurts and hang ups were caused by someone else in our life, and it is often not until we seek healing in relationship that we can heal from relational wounds. This may look like being able to talk through the issues with a trusted counselor, friend, significant other, or family member. It may mean making amends with that person who hurt you or who you may have hurt. Making amends does not always mean that the relationship is mended, but it means you are able to let that hurt go and no longer allow it to impact your life in ways you don’t want it to. Kristi does not believe we can or should forget hurts but when we let ourselves heal from them, we can move past them for ourselves and for our loved ones and grow to a healthier version of ourselves. Kristi believes each person’s treatment will be different based on their needs and situation. Her goal is to get to know a client, help them to build trust with her and make the counseling room a safe space to express anything they need, and be able to then help the client to meet their goals through the best process and interventions for that individual or couple.

In Kristi’s free time she is passionate about finding and fostering community, cooking, reading fantasy fiction, watching new films, and going on walks and spending time with her two pups, Stella and Loki. Her focus in and out of the counseling room is to foster health physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

If you see Kristi, you will also get to meet Loki, her therapy dog. Loki has his Canine Good Citizen Certificate, is fully vaccinated, and is kept up to date on worm, flea, and tick medication. He is a cocker spaniel and started to see clients with Kristi in 2022. He loves to snuggle, is always happy to see a friendly face and loves to meet new friends! Loki may not be present at every session but please be aware that he is often in the office and so if you have an allergy or aversion to dogs then Kristi may not be a good fit for you! In his free time, Loki loves to play fight with his big sister, take naps snuggled up to a loved one, dig lots of holes, and romp through fields chasing grasshoppers!
