Bio
Justine is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. She began her professional journey by earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from College of the Ozarks. She then worked as a mental health paraprofessional and counseling intern during her graduate school years. Justine earned her Master’s degree from John Brown University, where her areas of study were Marriage and Family Therapy, Community Counseling, and Play Therapy. Additionally, she has training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Justine has experience in working in a variety of settings including therapeutic day treatment, therapeutic preschool, school-based, community counseling, and in private practice. She has a passion for working with children and their families and believes that a positive client-therapist relationship is essential for success in therapy. She generally uses play therapy as her main modality of treatment but she also utilizes EMDR techniques and a client-centered approach depending on the needs of each client.
Justine has experience in helping children to heal from trauma, improve family relationships, improve communication and interactions, increase mood management, and to help children learn how to positively respond to big emotions and have adaptive responses. She also works closely with caregivers to provide support and strategies that they can use at home with their children.
In her free time, she can be found spending time with her husband and two giant dogs. She loves to travel to any warm and sandy destination, make memories with her family, and have an active lifestyle. She is also a huge lover of animals and will always stop to let turtles cross the road.
